Savoy Mountain State Forest makes it easy to leave the everyday world behind in the rugged hills of northwestern Massachusetts. The campground features 45 campsites located in an old apple orchard, along with one group site and four log cabins that overlook the tranquil South Pond. With wooded edges and hills rising in the distance, both North and South Ponds offer peaceful settings for fishing, picnicking, and swimming. The forest encompasses over 10,000 acres of dense woodland dominated by sugar maple, yellow birch, and beech trees. More than 50 miles of hiking trails wind through the terrain, providing opportunities for exploration and solitude. Six sites accommodate RVs, though these fill quickly during peak season and should be reserved well in advance. The campground is located in bear country, and visitors should take appropriate precautions with food storage. Savoy Mountain State Forest provides a family-friendly camping experience with convenient access to outdoor recreation while maintaining a rustic, backcountry atmosphere. The forest's remote location in the Berkshire highlands ensures cooler temperatures and a genuine escape from urban life.

From Route 2 in Florida, MA, turn onto Central Shaft Road. Follow signs to the campground, located on the right after the day-use area parking lot.
