About

Willow Creek Campground is a primitive campground located approximately 40 miles from Boise along Forest Road 268 in the Boise National Forest. Situated at 3,280 feet elevation on the Middle Fork of the Boise River near the north end of Arrowrock Reservoir, the campground offers a secluded setting surrounded by mature ponderosa pine forest with sagebrush hillsides in the distance. The campground consists of 9 campsites, with 4 conventional pull-in sites and 5 sites with shared parking areas. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and barbecue stand. Site 7 is set apart from other campers but closer to the road and river. The campground features vault toilets and is ADA accessible, but campers must bring their own water as no potable water is available. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no trash service or dump station. The Middle Fork of the Boise River provides excellent rainbow trout fishing opportunities right from the campground. The area is popular for wildlife watching, with deer and elk commonly seen, and wild horses occasionally spotted on nearby hillsides. Access is via Highway 21 and Forest Road 268, a slow, winding gravel road that takes approximately an hour to traverse from the highway. The remote location offers a peaceful camping experience far enough from the main road to ensure a quiet stay.

Directions

From Boise, travel north on Highway 21 for approximately 18 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road 268 (Arrowrock/Spring Shores Road) and travel approximately 22 miles. This is a slow, winding, mostly gravel road that takes about an hour to drive from Highway 21.
