About

Macks Creek Park is a small, popular campground managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, located just 25 miles from Boise on the shore of Lucky Peak Lake. Situated at 3,055 feet elevation in the sagebrush steppe foothills of southwestern Idaho, the campground offers both tent and RV camping with scenic lake and mountain views. The tent sites are nestled among shady trees along the lakeshore, while RV sites are positioned across the road with wide-open views of Lucky Peak Lake and the surrounding mountains. The campground provides vault restrooms, hand-pumped drinking water, an emergency telephone, and a volunteer camp host during the operating season. A boat ramp within the campground provides convenient access for boating, fishing for rainbow trout, Kokanee, and smallmouth bass, swimming, and other water sports. Lucky Peak Lake stretches 12 miles upriver with 45 miles of shoreline when full, though regular seasonal drawdowns impact recreation. Wildlife in the area includes bald and golden eagles, mule deer, antelope, red-tailed hawks, California quail, and chukar. Nearby attractions include Arrowrock Reservoir and Boise National Forest.

Directions

From Gowen Road (Exit 57) off I-84, head east toward South Federal Way. Continue to follow Highway 21 for 12.5 miles. Turn right on Arrowrock Road immediately after the High Bridge crossing over the lake. Continue on Arrowrock Road past Spring Shores Marina at Mile 1 for a total of 4.5 miles to Macks Creek Park.
