About

Troutdale Campground sits along the Middle Fork Boise River in the Mountain Home Ranger District of Boise National Forest. This free, primitive campground offers five first-come, first-served sites, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. A vault toilet serves the campground, but there is no potable water available, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The setting provides excellent recreation opportunities including trout fishing in the Middle Fork Boise River and natural swimming holes. Wildlife watchers may spot deer, elk, waterfowl, eagles, and osprey along the river corridor. Trail #130 begins nearby and leads to Bald Mountain for day hiking. Access is via Forest Service Road 268, traveling approximately 33 miles past Arrowrock Dam and several other campgrounds. The road is narrow in places and may be rough, making this campground better suited for smaller vehicles, tents, and small trailers rather than large RVs.

Directions

From Boise, travel north on Highway 21 to the Arrowrock Reservoir turnoff, then proceed east on Forest Service Road 268 for approximately 33 miles. The road is narrow in places and may be rough.
