Prohibited by this order: Possessing, storing, or transporting non-pelletized hay, straw, or mulch in the Intermountain Region, unless it is certified as weed free by the state where the product originated.

Flat Fire GNA Salvage Road and Trail Closure

About

Bald Mountain Campground is a small, secluded camping area nestled in Boise National Forest near Idaho City, Idaho. With only 4 campsites, this intimate campground offers a peaceful retreat in a forested setting, perfect for campers seeking solitude and a more primitive camping experience. The campground serves as a gateway to several recreational opportunities. A trail from the campground leads east to the Middle Fork of the Boise River, while another trail from the Thorn Creek Butte Lookout south of the campground follows Cottonwood Creek. The area is popular for mountain biking, e-biking, horseback riding, OHV use, and day hiking. Each campsite is equipped with a campfire ring, grill, and picnic table. Accessible via Forest Service Road 304 and 203, the campground is located approximately 14 miles from Idaho City. The campground operates seasonally from July through September and is accessible until closed by snow. No potable water is available on-site, so campers must bring their own. Vault toilets remain open for snowmobile use during winter months. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations.

Directions

From Idaho City, travel 1 mile north on State Highway 21 to Forest Service Road 304. Turn right and proceed approximately 13 miles along FS Road 304. Follow FS Road 203 south for 1/3 mile to Bald Mountain Campground.
