About

Wilborn Creek Group Camp occupies a heavily forested setting on the northern shore of Lake Shelbyville in central Illinois. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this group facility includes 10 paved full-hookup sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections. A dual unisex shower facility with flush toilets serves campers, and a picnic shelter with electricity provides a gathering space. Multiple picnic tables and grills are scattered throughout for tent campers. Lake Shelbyville delivers excellent fishing opportunities for catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, muskie, walleye, white bass, and bluegill. A boat ramp, courtesy dock, and fish cleaning station are approximately one mile from the group camp. Hunting areas within a short drive offer quail, rabbit, pheasant, deer, dove, turkey, waterfowl, and woodcock. The surrounding landscape features dominant oak and hickory trees that produce vibrant fall colors. Prairie flowers dot the area in spring and summer. Wildlife includes cottontail rabbit, white-tail deer, gray and fox squirrel, muskrat, and mink, along with numerous songbirds, shorebirds, waterfowl, and raptors.
