Wilborn Creek Group Camp sits on the northern shore of Lake Shelbyville in the heart of central Illinois, offering a heavily forested setting with abundant shade from oak and hickory trees. The group camping facility is designed to accommodate large parties with 10 paved sites featuring full hookups, including 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections. Additional amenities include a picnic shelter with electricity, dual unisex shower facility with flush toilets, and numerous picnic tables and grills for tent campers. Lake Shelbyville provides excellent fishing opportunities for catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, muskie, walleye, white bass, and bluegill. A boat ramp, courtesy dock, and fish cleaning station are located about a mile from the group camp. The surrounding landscape transforms with seasonal colors, from spring and summer prairie flowers to vibrant fall foliage in red, orange, purple, and yellow hues. The area supports diverse wildlife including numerous songbirds, shorebirds, waterfowl, raptors, and mammals such as white-tailed deer, cottontail rabbits, squirrels, muskrat, and mink. Nearby hunting areas offer opportunities for quail, rabbit, pheasant, deer, dove, turkey, waterfowl, and woodcock. Wolf Creek State Park, Woods Lake Waterfowl Refuge, and Okaw Bluff Wetlands Complex are popular nearby destinations for wildlife watching and birding.

Directions

From Sullivan, Illinois, go west on State Route 121 for 5 miles. Turn left on County Road 5 and drive 3.5 miles, then make a right on County Road 18 and drive 0.75 miles to the campground.
