Open for the 2026 season with sites available for reservation through Recreation.gov. Water conservation is in effect due to low supply from prior drought conditions. Outside firewood is prohibited. Check-in required at fee booth during operating hours; arrivals not checked in by 4 p.m. on the day after scheduled arrival will be marked as no-show.

The City of Sullivan Water Department has asked all users of this recreation area to conserve the use of water. Low water supply levels are a result of last year’s drought conditions. This request is an effort to keep Bo Woods recreation area open. Please only fill tanks for what you plan to use on site.
About
Forrest W. Bo Wood Recreation Area sits on Lake Shelbyville's scenic northern shore amid oak and hickory forests. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this large campground offers over 140 campsites, all equipped with 50-amp electric hookups. Standard sites accommodate one RV plus up to three tents, while double sites can handle two RVs and six tents. Tent-only electric sites (138-141) provide options for those without RVs. The campground is well-appointed with flush restrooms, hot showers, a dump station, and fish cleaning station. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and lantern hanger on a gravel pad. A high-water boat ramp provides direct lake access for fishing and boating. Lake Shelbyville offers excellent fishing for catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, muskie, walleye, white bass, and bluegill. On-site recreation includes a playground and fenced dog park. The surrounding area features Wolf Creek State Park, Woods Lake Waterfowl Refuge, and Okaw Bluff Wetlands Complex for wildlife watching and hunting. Fall brings vibrant foliage while spring and summer showcase prairie wildflowers.
Directions
From Sullivan, Illinois, take State Route 32 south for two miles to the Forrest W. Bo Wood sign, then turn right and drive a half-mile to the campground.
