About
Lone Point sits on a forested peninsula along the western shore of Lake Shelbyville in central Illinois, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The campground offers a mix of standard electric sites that can accommodate RVs and tents, with each site limited to one RV and three tents or four tents maximum. A separate group camping area accommodates up to 80 people with 10 paved electric sites. The facility includes flush toilets, showers, a dump station, and drinking water. Recreation amenities include a fish cleaning station, playground, volleyball net, horseshoe pits, and an amphitheater for ranger programs. The adjacent Lone Point Day Use Area provides a multi-lane boat ramp and courtesy dock for lake access. Lake Shelbyville offers excellent fishing for catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, muskie, walleye, white bass, and bluegill. The 11-mile Chief Illini backpacking trail begins nearby and runs along the lake shore. The surrounding oak-hickory forest provides abundant shade and habitat for wildlife including white-tailed deer, songbirds, and waterfowl.
