About
Whychus Crossing Campground provides a remote, primitive camping experience in the high desert of Crooked River National Grassland, northeast of Sisters, Oregon. The area offers shaded campsites along Whychus Creek with picnic tables available on both sides of the creek. Access to this site is challenging and requires a high-clearance vehicle capable of fording Whychus Creek. The creek crossing is only passable at low water levels, typically late summer through fall. Road access to the Whychus Creek area is closed December through March. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out location with no developed facilities, water, or restrooms.
Directions
From Sisters, Oregon: Take Camp Polk Road for 2.6 miles, continue straight onto Wilt Road for 6.5 miles, turn left. Take a slight right onto Whychus Flat Road, then continue straight on Whychus Creek Road. The road crosses Whychus Creek. High clearance vehicle required; ford is only crossable at low flows. Camping available on both sides of the creek.
