About
The Cove Palisades State Park encompasses the dramatic Deschutes and Crooked River canyons in the heart of central Oregon, where these rivers meet to form Lake Billy Chinook. This popular year-round destination offers two distinct campgrounds: the Crooked River Campground, which operates year-round, and the Deschutes River Campground, conveniently located near swimming and boating areas along the Lower Deschutes River arm of the lake. The park provides diverse camping options with approximately 85-87 full hookup RV sites, 91 electrical sites with water, and tent sites. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Modern facilities include hot showers, restrooms, and a dump station. Three deluxe lakefront cabins are also available near the marina. The park accommodates large RVs with sites suitable for rigs over 60 feet. Beyond camping, visitors enjoy 10 miles of hiking trails that showcase the unique high desert landscape, ancient juniper trees, and towering basalt cliffs. The park offers water-based recreation on Lake Billy Chinook, with a marina providing boat rentals, moorage, fuel, and a store and restaurant operating Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Crooked River Water Trail provides six miles of paddling opportunities. Wildlife viewing is excellent, particularly during the annual Eagle Watch event. Day-use areas remain open year-round for visitors to explore this geological and recreational gem.
