About

The Cove Palisades State Park encompasses the dramatic Deschutes and Crooked River canyons surrounding Lake Billy Chinook in central Oregon. The park offers two distinct camping areas with a total of 303 sites including tent, RV, ADA-accessible, and group camping options. Crooked River Campground (E Loop) features 91 electrical sites with water hookups and is located approximately one mile from the lake near the park entrance. The North Loop remains open year-round while Middle and South Loops operate seasonally from March through October. Deschutes River Campground includes three loops positioned about half a mile from the lake near swimming and boating areas. A and C Loops offer 87 full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, while B Loop provides 93 tent sites with water access nearby. This campground operates seasonally from early May through mid-September. The park also features three group tent sites accommodating up to 25 people each and 21 reservable boat moorages. Both campgrounds include flush toilets, hot showers, and fire rings. A dump station is available at E Loop with a $10 per-use fee. The park has a fenced off-leash pet exercise area in Deschutes Campground. Sites accommodate RVs up to 50 feet with pull-through options available. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance through oregonstateparks.reserveamerica.com.

Directions

From Portland, take US-26 E through Mt. Hood National Forest to Madras. Upon entering Madras, stay in the right lane then turn right on SE 'D' St (Hwy 361). Stay on Hwy 361 until entering Culver then follow park signs. Turn right on C St. Turn right on Feather Rd. Turn left on Fisch Rd which turns into Frasier Rd. Turn left onto Jordan Rd which will bring you into the park.
