Camping is currently closed. Day use only May 16-21. The camping season opens Friday, May 22, 2026. The campground operates from Memorial Day weekend through the second full weekend in September.

**NOTICE**: Perry South access will be **closed from May 11 - 15** for annual maintenance. The park will be open for **day use only from May 16 - 21**. The camping season **opens on Friday, May 22, 2026**.

**MOORAGE:** Slips are $10/night and available to registered campers only. Vehicles at the launch or overflow are subject to a $10/day permit. Please check slip dimensions before booking, and reserve larger slips only if needed.

Alcohol Prohibitions

About

Perry South Campground is located on the Metolius Arm of Lake Billy Chinook in central Oregon's high desert region within the Deschutes National Forest. The lake, created by Round Butte Dam, fills the canyons of the Crooked, Metolius, and Deschutes Rivers, offering 72 miles of shoreline and excellent fishing for bass, trout, salmon, and whitefish. The campground provides standard nonelectric sites, double sites, tent-only sites, and hike-to sites. Facilities include vault toilets and potable water available at standpipes, though campers should fill tanks before arrival. A boat launch with reservable dock slips is available exclusively to registered campers. Day use parking is $10, with Northwest Forest Pass and America the Beautiful passes honored. The surrounding rugged hills and diverse evergreen forest support wildlife including mule deer, coyote, black-tailed jackrabbit, and cougars. Hikers can explore the nearby Balancing Rocks Overlook or venture to Cove Palisades State Park for the Tam-a-lau Trail. The Wild and Scenic Metolius River is also nearby for flyfishing and whitewater boating.

Directions

From Sisters, OR: Travel 5.6 miles northwest on Highway 20, then 20.8 miles north on Forest Road 11, then 5.0 miles east on Forest Road 1170, and then 2.6 miles northwest on County Road 64. The route from Culver, OR is recommended year-round; the Sisters route is summer only.
