About

Whitewater Lake Campground is a primitive camping destination within the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit, offering 63 campsites in a beautiful wooded setting near Whitewater Lake. The campground provides a more rustic experience with vault toilets and no shower facilities, though showers are available at nearby Pinewoods and Ottawa Lake campgrounds approximately 20 miles to the north. A sanitary dump station and recycling/garbage facilities are provided for registered campers. The campground also features walk-in sites set back in the forest between 140 to 750 feet from parking stalls, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and gravel tent pad. Part of the larger Kettle Moraine State Forest, the campground provides access to the forest's extensive trail system and recreational opportunities. The adjacent Hickory Woods Group Camp offers group sites accommodating between 20 to 40 people, though some sites have seasonal closures. Reservations are required for all sites and can be made up to 11 months in advance through the Wisconsin State Parks system. Campers can proceed directly to their reserved site without checking in at the office.
