About
Rock Cut State Park Campground sits on 3,254 acres in Illinois's far northern region, carved out of the rolling terrain of Winnebago County near Rockford. The campground provides 270 premium campsites divided between 210 Class A Premium sites and 60 Class B/S Premium sites, all featuring electricity at the site. A primitive cabin with electricity only is also available. Two shower houses with accessible bathrooms serve campers, positioned between the Prairie View/White Oak and Plum Grove camping loops. The park centers on two lakes: Pierce Lake for fishing and boating, and Olson Lake. Pierce Lake features accessible fishing piers and a boat launch available to campers. Year-round recreation includes hiking on over 40 miles of trails (including five paved accessible trails), horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and fishing. Equestrian camping is available at the Hart Road site on a first-come, first-served basis. From November through April, only electricity remains operational; water and the dump station are shut off for winter. Rock Cut is strictly an alcohol-free park and campground. Reservations are made exclusively through ExploreMoreIL; the park office no longer accepts reservations.
