About
Kettle Moraine Horseriders' Campground is Wisconsin's premier state forest equestrian camping destination, situated in the Southern Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest near Palmyra. The facility is exclusively for campers with horses and provides 56 campsites including 36 back-in sites and 20 pull-through sites, plus one group site accommodating up to 20 people. Nineteen sites feature electric hookups added through fundraising by the Southern Kettle Moraine Horse Trails Association. The campground offers comprehensive equestrian amenities including tether posts and fire rings at each site, horse showers, manure deposit stations, and a picnic shelter. Human facilities include a shower building, drinking water, and vault toilets. Corrals are being added to multiple sites. The campground connects directly to an extensive bridle trail network winding through the forest's distinctive glacial landscape of kettle lakes, moraines, and wooded hills. All equestrians 16 years and older must carry a valid state trail pass while riding the designated bridle trails. Sites 468-470 are first-come, first-served while all other sites are reservable online. A vehicle admission sticker is required, and nonresident campers pay an additional surcharge.
