White Spar Campground sits at 5,641 feet elevation in a ponderosa pine forest just 2.7 miles south of downtown Prescott on Highway 89. The campground offers a convenient base for exploring the Prescott Basin area while enjoying mild weather and the shade of towering pines mixed with oak, manzanita, and native grasses. The location provides easy access to multiple recreation opportunities without sacrificing the forest camping experience. The campground features 52 single sites and 4 double occupancy sites designed for RVs, trailers, and tent camping. Several connector and loop trails radiate from the area, offering hiking and mountain biking options. Within a short drive, campers can access Granite Basin Recreation Area with its 5-acre lake known for catfish and bass, the 55-acre Lynx Lake, and Thumb Butte with its scenic vistas at 6,515 feet. The Granite Mountain Wilderness Area rises prominently to the north at 6,874 feet. The Prescott area offers year-round recreation including fishing, bird watching, rock climbing (seasonal at Thumb Butte), and horseback riding. The tri-city community of Prescott, Chino Valley, and Prescott Valley provides additional amenities and attractions within minutes. The campground's proximity to town while maintaining a forest setting makes it popular with both RV campers and those seeking a convenient base for exploring central Arizona's high country.

Directions

From downtown Prescott, take Montezuma Street (Highway 89) south for 2.7 miles. White Spar Campground is located on the left (east) side of Highway 89. From Phoenix, take I-17 northbound to Exit 262 onto Highway 69 North toward Prescott. Continue 41 miles to downtown Prescott, turn left on Montezuma Street (Highway 89) south for 2.7 miles.
