The purpose this order is to protect public health and safety due to flash flood risk and sanitation issues and to protect natural resources from degradation.

About

Hilltop Campground is nestled in a cool ponderosa pine, oak, and manzanita forest at 5,712 feet elevation in the Lynx Lake Recreation Area of Prescott National Forest. The campground offers 38 sites, including 34 single and 3 double-occupancy sites, with a mix of pull-through, back-in, and parallel parking driveways surfaced in asphalt. Each site includes a concrete picnic table and steel fire ring. The campground's location provides exceptional access to outdoor recreation. Lynx Lake, a popular 55-acre fishing and boating destination, is within walking distance to the north. Connector trails link to the broader Prescott Basin trail network for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Nearby attractions include Thumb Butte Recreation Area, Granite Basin Recreation Area, and several lakes in the City of Prescott. Facilities include five vault toilets and six water faucets for drinking water. Sites accommodate RVs under 40 feet in length. A camp host is available to provide information. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, with some sites held for first-come-first-served campers who pay at a self-pay kiosk.

Directions

From Highway 69 in Prescott Valley, turn south onto Walker Road (by Costco). Drive approximately 3.8 miles south on Walker Road, then turn left (east) into Hilltop Campground. The campground is less than 0.5 mile from Walker Road via paved access road.
