Air Quality Alert issued July 1 at 11:13AM MST by NWS Flagstaff AZ

11:13 AM — July 2nd, 11:00 PM

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has issued an Ozone High Pollution Advisory for Prescott through Thursday. This means that forecast weather conditions combined with existing ozone levels are expected to result in local maximum 8-hour ozone concentrations that pose a health risk. Adverse health effects increase as air quality deteriorates. Ozone is an air contaminant which can cause breathing difficulties for children, older adults, as well as persons with respiratory problems. A decrease in physical activity is recommended. You are urged to car pool, telecommute, or use mass transit. The use of gasoline-powered equipment should be reduced or done late in the day. For details on this High Pollution Advisory, visit the ADEQ internet site at www.azdeq.gov/forecast/prescott or call 602-771-2300.

About

Indian Creek is a dispersed camping area in the Bradshaw Mountains of Prescott National Forest, not an officially designated developed campground. The site is located along a forest road in the Crown King corridor, surrounded by ponderosa pine forest at mid-elevation in the Bradshaws. As dispersed camping on National Forest land, there are no developed facilities such as toilets, potable water, or trash collection. Campers must be fully self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles. Fires may be permitted in metal fire rings brought by campers when fire restrictions are not in effect, though restrictions are common during dry seasons. The area appeals to OHV enthusiasts due to proximity to trail systems and the Crown King road network. A seasonal creek runs through the area. Standard Prescott National Forest dispersed camping rules apply: 14-day stay limit within a 30-day period outside the Prescott Basin designated area.

Directions

From Prescott, take Senator Highway (County Road 52) south toward Crown King. Indian Creek is located along forest roads in the Bradshaw Mountains. High-clearance or 4WD vehicle recommended depending on conditions.
