About

Groom Creek Schoolhouse is a historic day-use facility in Arizona's Prescott National Forest, not an overnight campground. Built in 1902, this charming schoolhouse served local children until 1952 and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The facility includes a two-room schoolhouse with tables and chairs, plus an outdoor picnic area with 10 tables, vault toilet, and parking for 12 vehicles or two buses. The site operates seasonally from April 1 through October 31 and is available for group reservations up to 50-60 people, making it popular for weddings, reunions, luncheons, and meetings. Day-use fees are $5 per vehicle (free on Wednesdays), with group rentals at $150 per day. No drinking water is available; visitors must bring their own. The adjacent Prescott Sunrise Lions' Club Nature Trail is fully accessible with a paved surface, wheelchair access, and tactile displays for visually impaired visitors. For those wishing to camp overnight, Upper Wolf Creek Campground is located nearby.
