About

Upper Wolf Creek Group Campground provides a secluded forest setting for large groups seeking outdoor recreation near Prescott, Arizona. Set at 6,000 feet elevation in a ponderosa pine forest mixed with juniper, Gambel oak, and scattered boulders, this reservation-only facility accommodates groups of 1 to 100 people. The trees are thinly spaced in areas to facilitate group activities and RV parking for vehicles up to 40 feet in length. The campground features 13 picnic tables, 5 grills, a central fire ring, a volleyball/badminton court with net, and a horseshoe pit. A 4-seat vault toilet and garbage service are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on-site. The facility is located away from other developed recreation sites, offering privacy for group gatherings. Recreation opportunities abound in the surrounding Bradshaw Mountains. Numerous hiking and mountain biking trails are accessible from the campground, and 15-acre Goldwater Lake lies just a few miles away, offering boating, fishing for trout and bass, and a boat ramp. The historic town of Prescott is 8 miles away for supplies and amenities. Access via unpaved Forest Road 97 is suitable for all vehicles during dry conditions.

Directions

From Prescott, take Senator Highway (Mt. Vernon Avenue) south for 6 miles past Goldwater Lake and Groom Creek. Pavement ends 500 feet before Forest Road 97. Turn right on FR 97 and continue 0.75 miles to the campground on the right. FR 97 is unpaved but suitable for all vehicles in dry conditions. Alternate route: Take US 89 (White Spar Road) south 6 miles to FR 97, turn left and continue 5.5 miles to campground.
