Washington Monument State Park Youth Group Campground offers four primitive tent camping sites (YG 1-4) exclusively for non-commercial youth organizations holding a valid Maryland Youth Group Pass. Each site accommodates between 20 and 40 campers. The campground operates seasonally from early April through late October. Situated atop South Mountain in Washington County, the park is home to the first completed monument dedicated to George Washington, a stone tower erected by local citizens in 1827. The area served as a Civil War battlefield and now houses the South Mountain State Battlefield main office with historical interpretation. The Appalachian National Scenic Trail passes through the park, providing excellent hiking opportunities. The park is a premier location for observing raptor migration, with hawks, eagles, and falcons passing through in significant numbers during mid-September. Facilities are primitive with no hookups available. The main parking area, picnic pavilion, and museum are ADA accessible, though the comfort station is not.

From I-70, take Exit 42 (Route 17) north toward Middletown. Turn left onto Alternate US 40 west, then turn right onto Monument Road. Follow to 6620 Zittlestown Road, Middletown, MD 21769.
