Closed for the season. The campground opens annually the first weekend in April and closes the last weekend in October. Reservations are required throughout the season.

About
Rock Run Campground at Gambrill State Park is a seasonal campground offering 34 campsites in a forested setting on Catoctin Mountain. The facility includes 13 basic sites, nine tent-only sites, six to eight sites with 30-amp electrical hookups suitable for RVs and trailers, and four camper cabins with electricity. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post. The campground features a centrally located bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets, along with a dump station for sewage and potable water. The park offers miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horse trails, with three scenic overlooks providing stunning views of the valleys to the east and west. A fishing pond is also available in the Rock Run area. Located approximately six miles west of Frederick on Route 40, the campground operates seasonally and requires reservations through the Maryland state park system. The park is known for its clean facilities and rustic, backcountry feel while remaining accessible from the Baltimore-Washington metro area.
