About

Greenbrier State Park, located in the Appalachian Mountains, offers a diverse range of recreational activities centered around its 42-acre man-made freshwater lake. The park features a white sandy beach, making it a popular destination for swimming, canoeing, boating, and fishing. A visitor center operates year-round, providing information on the South Mountain Recreation Area and housing a small gift shop. The park boasts nearly eleven miles of hiking trails that traverse various wildlife habitats and showcase geological features. Notably, a segment of the Appalachian Trail crosses the eastern edge of the park via the Bartman's Hill Trail. Camping facilities include 165 campsites set within a forested environment, each equipped with a table, fire ring, and parking area. Bathhouses with hot showers are conveniently located within each camping loop. Forty of these sites offer electric hookups, accommodating both tent and RV campers. Two camping loops are designated as pet-friendly, allowing visitors to bring their pets along. Additional amenities encompass a dump station, picnic areas, and accessibility features such as an accessible visitor center and some campsites. A beach wheelchair is available for those requiring assistance. The park's operating hours are from 8 a.m. to sunset, and reservations for camping are required.
