About

Vee Lake Trailhead/Campground is a small, primitive facility located in the Warner Mountains of Fremont-Winema National Forest, serving as the southern terminus of the Fremont National Recreation Trail #160. Situated one hour 15 minutes northeast of Lakeview, Oregon, the site sits on the edge of the high desert with views overlooking Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge. The campground offers just two campsites with one vault toilet, maintained during the open season from mid-May through mid-October. No fees are required and no drinking water is available, so visitors must bring their own. The surrounding mixed forest features ponderosa pine, white fir, and stands of aspen. Vee Lake itself is a small but unique lake, stocked with rainbow trout, and features an earthen, man-made dam that visitors can walk across. The lake has a launch suitable for electric motorboats and canoes. The trailhead provides access to the southern segment of the Fremont National Recreation Trail, offering opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking in a lightly-used area of the national forest.
