About
Deep Creek Campground is a small, free primitive campground tucked into the South Warner Mountains within the Fremont-Winema National Forest. The four campsites are arranged along the creek in a setting of ponderosa pine, cottonwood, and aspen, offering a quiet retreat for those seeking solitude. Each site includes a picnic table and fire grate. One vault toilet serves the campground. This is a true backcountry experience. There is no potable water, so campers must pack in all drinking water. The area sees light use and is especially popular during fall hunting season. Spring and early summer bring abundant wildflowers. Fishing, wildlife viewing, and day hiking are available nearby. Access requires navigating approximately 15 miles of forest roads from Highway 140. The campground operates seasonally from May 15 through October 15, with reduced services available outside those dates. A 14-day stay limit applies throughout Fremont-Winema National Forest.
