About

Mud Creek Campground is a quiet, rustic campground located in the North Warner Mountains of the Fremont-Winema National Forest, approximately 35 minutes northeast of Lakeview, Oregon. The campground features seven spacious sites spread among a mixed forest of ponderosa and lodgepole pines, with aspens and cottonwood trees adding seasonal color. Despite its remote location, the campground sees light use, making it an ideal destination for those seeking solitude in nature. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire grate, and the campground provides vault toilet facilities. Recreational opportunities include fishing, wading, bird watching, and wildlife viewing along Mud Creek, which flows through the area. For hikers, the Crane Mountain National Recreation Trail #161 is located two miles to the west and can be accessed via the Walker Trailhead. The campground's setting provides a peaceful base camp for exploring the surrounding national forest. Mud Creek Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees required. The campground is open year-round but offers full services from mid-May through mid-October, with reduced services during the winter months. Water availability varies by season, so visitors should plan accordingly and bring adequate supplies, especially during the reduced services period.
