About

Moss Meadows Horse Camp is a rustic equestrian campground in the Fremont-Winema National Forest, offering scenic views of Steens Mountain and Mount Shasta. The camp features four primitive sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire grate, plus one vault toilet and a single hitching post for horse accommodations. This is primarily a stopover camp rather than a destination for trail rides. The nearest trail access is approximately 20 miles to Currier Springs on the Fremont National Recreation Trail. An alternative is to ride west along the road about five miles to the Chewaucan River, though this route crosses private land and requires landowner permission. The Paisley Ranger District can provide contact information for access. The camp is free to use and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors must bring all their own water as none is available on site. The location sees light usage, making it a quiet option for those traveling through the area with horses.

Directions

From Paisley, take Oregon Highway 31 south approximately 6 miles, then turn right onto County Highway 2-10A (Clover Flat Road). From there, turn right onto Forest Service Road 3510. The camp is on the left side of FS Road 3510.
