About

Upper Soda Springs Campground is a 28-site campground nestled in the scenic Reds Meadow Valley of Inyo National Forest at 7,700 feet elevation. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is accessible only during summer months via Reds Meadow Road, a narrow single-lane route that traverses past Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge and Minaret Vista Station. The campground experiences heavy bear activity, and strict food storage protocols are enforced. Each site is equipped with a bear-proof locker measuring 48"x30"x36", and all food, trash, and scented items must be stored properly. Campers who drive into Reds Meadow Valley are subject to an amenity fee. Hand-pump drinking water is available on-site. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire pit, with vault toilets serving the campground. The area provides excellent access to hiking trails and attractions including Rainbow Falls, making it a popular destination during peak season. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sites cost $32 per night with an additional $10 fee per extra vehicle.
