About

Upper Soda Springs Campground is a 28-site primitive campground nestled at 7,700 feet in the Reds Meadow Valley of Inyo National Forest, just north of Devils Postpile National Monument. The campground provides access to outstanding high Sierra scenery, the Pacific Crest Trail, and the renowned Rainbow Falls. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Each site includes a picnic table and a mandatory bear-proof locker. This is an active bear area, and all food and scented items must be stored in the lockers. Vault toilets and potable drinking water from a hand pump are available. Campers must dispose of all trash in the bear-proof receptacles provided. Access to Reds Meadow Valley is via a narrow, single-lane road off Minaret Road past Mammoth Mountain. When the mandatory ESTA shuttle bus is operating during peak summer season, visitors must park at Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge and ride the shuttle into the valley unless they have a valid camping registration.

Directions

From US 395, take State Highway 203 west through Mammoth Lakes. At the second traffic light, turn right onto Minaret Road and continue past Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge and Minaret Vista Station. During mandatory shuttle periods, park at Main Lodge and take the ESTA shuttle into Reds Meadow Valley.
