About

Minaret Falls Campground occupies a forested setting in the Reds Meadow Valley beneath the dramatic Minarets peaks of the Ritter Range. The 27-site campground operates first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Each site features a bear-proof food locker, picnic table, and fire ring. Due to heavy bear activity in the area, all food and scented items must be stored in the provided lockers, and all trash must be disposed of in bear-proof receptacles. The campground provides vault toilets and drinking water from a hand pump. There are no hookups, showers, or dump station. The narrow single-lane access road limits vehicle size and is only passable in summer when snow clears. Private vehicle access into the valley requires paying a shuttle amenity fee. Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The location offers excellent access to backcountry trails including routes to Minaret Lake, Shadow Lake, and connections to the John Muir Trail and Pacific Crest Trail. Devils Postpile National Monument and Rainbow Falls are short drives away within the valley.

Directions

From US 395, take State Highway 203 west through Mammoth Lakes. At the second traffic light, turn right onto Minaret Road (still Hwy 203). Continue past Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge and through Minaret Vista Station. A mandatory shuttle fee applies for entry into Reds Meadow Valley during operating hours.
