About

Reds Meadow Campground occupies a scenic location at 9,600 feet elevation in Reds Meadow Valley, part of the Mammoth Lakes region of Inyo National Forest. The campground provides 52 sites on a first-come, first-served basis with registration handled by the camp host on-site. Each site includes a picnic table and a bear-proof food storage locker, essential given the area's high bear activity. The campground features flush toilets and potable drinking water available from a hand pump. This is a primitive camping experience with no showers, hookups, or dump station. Quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Dogs are permitted but must remain leashed at all times. Access to Reds Meadow Valley involves driving the narrow, winding Reds Meadow Road past Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge. During peak season, a mandatory shuttle system operates for day visitors, though overnight campers with confirmed reservations or registered at the campground may drive their own vehicles. The campground serves as a gateway to Devil's Postpile National Monument and trailheads for the Pacific Crest Trail and John Muir Trail.

Directions

From US 395, take State Highway 203 west to and through Mammoth Lakes. At the second traffic light, turn right onto Minaret Road and continue up the mountain past Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge and Minaret Vista Station. Follow Reds Meadow Road to the campground at the end of the valley.
