About
Agnew Meadows Group Campground sits in a lodgepole pine forest surrounded by high mountain peaks in the Reds Meadow Valley of Inyo National Forest. At 8,400 feet elevation, the campground provides access to some of the most spectacular wilderness in the eastern Sierra Nevada. Devils Postpile National Monument and the Ansel Adams Wilderness are nearby, with trailheads to the Pacific Crest Trail in the vicinity. The campground offers 4 group sites for parties of 10-20 people, with vault toilets, drinking water available from a hand pump, picnic tables, and bear-proof food storage lockers. The area has historically high bear activity, and all food and scented items must be stored in the provided lockers. Mosquitoes are abundant in early-to-mid summer. Access is via Reds Meadow Road, a narrow single-lane mountain road. The access road to the group campground is unimproved and not recommended for trailers or RVs. Reds Meadow Pack Station and Resort, located nearby, has a general store and cafe. Campers planning to hike to trailheads in the area are required to ride a shuttle.
