About

Agnew Meadows Campground is located at 8,400 feet elevation in the Reds Meadow Valley of Inyo National Forest, positioned under a forest canopy adjacent to wildflower-rich meadows. The campground consists of three distinct areas: a 21-site family campground operated first-come, first-served, a reservable group campground with sites accommodating 10-20 people, and equestrian facilities. Access is via the narrow, single-lane Reds Meadow Road off Highway 203. The campground provides a strategic base for exploring the eastern Sierra wilderness. Hikers can access the Pacific Crest Trail and numerous wilderness trails leading into the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The adjacent pack station offers horseback riding and pack trips. Due to consistently high bear activity, all sites are equipped with bear-proof lockers measuring 48"x 30"x 36", and proper food storage is mandatory. Amenities include vault toilets, hand-pump potable water, picnic tables, and fire pits at each site. Standard family sites cost $30-32 per night, equestrian sites $33 per night, and group sites range from $48-95 per night depending on size. An additional vehicle fee of $9-10 applies. While campers may drive into Reds Meadow Valley, a shuttle fee applies during peak season. The campground operates only during summer months when the high-elevation road is passable.

Directions

Take US 395 to State Highway 203. Head west through Mammoth Lakes. At the 2nd traffic light, turn right onto Minaret Road and continue up the mountain past Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge and Minaret Vista Station. Continue on Reds Meadow Road to the Agnew Meadows turnoff, approximately 2.5 miles past Minaret Vista.
