About
Upper Onion Creek Group Site is a BLM-managed campground located along scenic Highway 128 in Grand County, Utah. The campground offers two distinct group sites ideal for family gatherings or group outings. Group Site A is specifically designed for equestrian guests, featuring a horse corral and access to nearby riding trails, with capacity for up to 20 people and 15 vehicles. Group Site B accommodates larger groups of up to 25 people. Both sites provide shade shelters with picnic tables, fire grates for campfires, and vault toilets. The campground is primitive with no potable water, dump stations, or hookups available. Campers should bring their own water supply. Each site allows up to 5 RVs or 10 tents, with a maximum vehicle length of 20 feet and 250-foot gravel driveways. The setting features spectacular red rock scenery with views of Fisher Towers, Castle Valley, the Colorado River canyon, and the La Sal Mountains as a backdrop. Direct access to the Onion Creek four-wheel drive road is adjacent to the campground, popular for motorized and horse travel with 27 wash crossings. The campground is approximately 40 minutes from Arches National Park and 55 minutes from Canyonlands National Park.
