About
Hal Canyon Campground is a primitive Bureau of Land Management campground located along Highway 128, just 6.6 miles east of the junction with Highway 191. The campground's 11 sites are tucked into the dramatic red rock canyon walls at the Big Bend of the Colorado River, offering intimate camping experiences with stunning views of the river and surrounding canyon landscape. Two walk-in tent sites provide additional privacy for tent campers. This first-come, first-served campground operates year-round and features basic amenities including vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site. No water is available on-site, so campers must bring adequate supplies. Each site can accommodate up to 10 people and two vehicles. The campground's riverside location provides access to the Colorado River, though visitors should be aware of dangerous undercurrents and follow local regulations regarding life jackets. The location offers convenient access to Moab and Arches National Park, both approximately 10-15 minutes away, while providing a more peaceful and affordable alternative to developed campgrounds. The site sits at approximately 4,000 feet elevation along one of Utah's most scenic byways.
Directions
