Porcupine Rim Campground sits at the edge of one of Moab's most scenic overlooks, offering campers sweeping views of Castle Valley and the surrounding canyon country. What was once a popular dispersed camping area has been transformed into a developed Forest Service campground with improved amenities and designated sites. The campground features approximately 16 individual campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The location is particularly popular with mountain bikers, as it provides direct access to the legendary Porcupine Rim Trail and the Whole Enchilada route, considered one of the premier mountain bike trails in the world. The campground is accessed via Sand Flats Road, which requires a fee for entry into the Sand Flats Recreation Area. While the elevation provides cooler temperatures than the valley floor, the exposed rim location means campers should be prepared for wind and variable weather conditions. This is a no-frills camping experience with vault toilets and no water available on-site. Campers must bring all necessary water and supplies. The dramatic rim-side setting, proximity to world-class mountain biking, and absence of fees for camping (Sand Flats entrance fee applies) make this a popular destination for adventurers seeking stunning scenery and access to outdoor recreation.

From Moab, take Sand Flats Road east approximately 9.5 miles. The campground is located off Sand Flats Road near Forest Road 4632. Entry fee required for Sand Flats Recreation Area.
