Oak Grove Campground is a small, primitive Bureau of Land Management campground situated along the scenic Colorado River corridor on State Route 128, just 6.9 miles east of Highway 191 near Moab. This tent-only campground offers 7 first-come, first-served sites tucked among scrub oak trees, providing more secluded camping with spectacular views of the Colorado River canyon. The campground is designed for tents and small vehicles only, with a maximum length of 22 feet and no trailers allowed.
Each individual site is limited to 10 people and two vehicles, with a stay limit of 14 nights within a 30-day period. The campground features basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings, but campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. Sites are located close to the Colorado River, but visitors should exercise caution as the river has dangerous undercurrents and local regulations require life jackets.
Oak Grove Campground operates on a cash or check payment system at $20 per night, with a credit card machine available at nearby Big Bend Campground. Senior and Access pass holders receive a 50% discount when occupying the site. The campground's proximity to Highway 128 and the Colorado River makes it a popular base for exploring the scenic river corridor and surrounding canyon country.
