Upper Big Bend Campground

Open — Open year-round, first-come, first-served. No advance reservations. Limited to 14 days per 30-day period.

About

Upper Big Bend Campground offers 8 individual campsites tucked within the dramatic canyon walls along the Colorado River on scenic Highway 128. The campground provides spectacular river views and is particularly suitable for tent camping. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. This campground is especially popular with rock climbers visiting the Big Bend Bouldering Area, which is just a short walk from camp. The location along the Colorado River offers opportunities for boating and hiking, though visitors should exercise caution as the river has dangerous undercurrents and life jackets are required for river entry. The campground features vault toilets and one ADA-accessible site (campsite #5), but campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. Located 8.1 miles east of the Highway 191 junction along State Route 128, Upper Big Bend provides a scenic base for exploring the Moab area with a 14-day stay limit within any 30 consecutive day period. Payment of $20 per night can be made at the campground via card (accepted at nearby Big Bend Campground), cash, or check.

Directions

From the junction of Highway 191 and State Route 128, drive east 8.1 miles along the Colorado River on SR 128. The campground area will be on the left.
