About
Upper Big Bend Campground sits along the scenic Colorado River corridor on Utah Highway 128, offering 8 individual campsites with dramatic canyon views. The campground is managed by the BLM Moab Field Office and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Each site includes a picnic table and fire grate, with vault toilets available on site. Potable water is not provided, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground is a favorite among rock climbers, as the Big Bend Bouldering Area is just a short walk away. The location also serves as a convenient base camp for exploring Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Dead Horse Point State Park. Activities in the area include hiking, mountain biking, rafting, and scenic drives along the river corridor. Campers should exercise caution near the Colorado River, which has dangerous undercurrents. Life jackets are required for anyone entering the water. The stay limit is 14 nights within any 30 consecutive day period. One site (campsite #5) is ADA accessible.
Directions
From the junction of Highway 191 and Highway 128, drive east 8.1 miles along the Colorado River on Highway 128. The campground will be on the left.
