About
Upper Meadows Campground is a small, scenic campground nestled along the South Fork of the Ogden River at an elevation of 5,300 feet in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Located just over 8 miles from Huntsville, Utah, the campground offers 9 single sites set among shady cottonwoods and willow trees, providing excellent shade and direct river access. The campground features gravel spurs and roads, cement table pads, and fire rings at each site.
Campers are drawn to this location for its excellent river access and recreational opportunities. The South Fork of the Ogden River is extremely popular for tubing (life jackets required for all tubers), fishing, and swimming. A campground host is located nearby at Lower Meadows Campground. The surrounding Ogden Valley offers abundant opportunities for hiking, with Causey Reservoir just three miles east providing additional canoeing, fishing, and trail access. Pineview Reservoir is a short drive away for boating and swimming, and ATV trails are abundant in the area.
Wildlife is common, with moose and deer occasionally wandering through the campground. The scenic setting combines river access with mountain views, and Highway 39 continues east to Monte Cristo Summit with sweeping vistas. The campground operates with a 7-day maximum stay limit, and gates are locked at 10:00 PM with quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
