About
Botts Campground is a small, historic campground located about six miles east of Huntsville, Utah along Highway 39 in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Situated on a curve of the South Fork Ogden River at 5,200 feet elevation, it has been a popular camping destination since pioneer times. The campground offers 7 single sites and 1 double site, all standard nonelectric with picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets.
The setting features large, old cottonwoods and willows that provide shade along the riverbank. Popular recreation includes fishing the South Fork Ogden River, swimming, and tubing downstream (life jackets required for all tubers). The campground has no on-site host but hosts at nearby Magpie or South Fork Campgrounds can assist.
Nearby Causey Reservoir offers fishing, canoeing, and access to hiking and biking trails. Pineview Reservoir provides boating, fishing, and swimming. Highway 39 continues east to Monte Cristo Summit with sweeping mountain views, and numerous ATV and hiking trails are available throughout the area.
