Jefferson Hunt Campground
Closed — Permanently closed. Jefferson Hunt Campground was officially decommissioned by the U.S. Forest Service in 2018 and is no longer available for camping.
About
Jefferson Hunt Campground was formerly a developed U.S. Forest Service campground operated by the Ogden Ranger District on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Located along the south shore of Pineview Reservoir approximately 8 miles east of Ogden, Utah, the site once offered primitive camping near the confluence of the Ogden River and Pineview Reservoir. In 2018, the Forest Service completed a decommissioning project for Jefferson Hunt Campground. The decision to decommission was signed on July 16, 2018, and all campground improvements were removed. The project aimed to restore the wetland areas to a more natural state, allowing waters to flow into natural channels and floodplains. The campground is no longer open for public use and camping is not permitted at this location.
