About
Magpie Campground is located along the South Fork Ogden River at an elevation of 5,200 feet in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The campground features 8 single sites and 2 double sites nestled in a heavily wooded setting with cottonwood trees and lush river-bottom vegetation. Direct river access makes this a popular destination for tubing (life jackets required) and fishing throughout the summer season.
The campground provides vault restrooms, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Drinking water is available during the operating season. A camp host is on-site and firewood is available for purchase. The gate opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 10:00 p.m., with quiet hours enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Beyond the campground, beautiful Ogden Valley offers extensive recreation opportunities including Pineview Reservoir for boating, fishing, and swimming just a short drive away. Causey Reservoir lies 5 miles east, offering scenic canoeing and fishing. Highway 39 continues toward Monte Cristo Summit with sweeping mountain views, and numerous ATV, hiking, and mountain biking trails are accessible throughout the area. The campground is part of the South Fork complex, which includes several other campgrounds along the canyon.
