Perception Park Family Campground is a fully accessible, higher-standard facility located on the banks of the South Fork Ogden River at 5,200 feet elevation, approximately 7.5 miles east of Huntsville, Utah, on Highway 39. Built in the mid-1980s specifically for the use of physically challenged visitors, the campground is open to all campers and features paved roads, cement site pads, and concrete platforms with benches placed along the river. This scenic campground is nestled among shady cottonwood and willow trees, with the South Fork Ogden River running alongside. Moose and deer occasionally wander through the campground. The facility includes 16 individual sites (9 single sites, 6 double sites, and 1 triple site) plus 3 group sites that can accommodate up to 50 people each. Most sites are equipped with picnic shelters, tables, campfire circles, grills, and cement pads. A paved nature trail runs alongside the river, and recreational facilities include playgrounds, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits. Fishing and tubing are the most popular activities, with life jackets required for all tubers. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the beautiful Ogden Valley, with nearby Pineview Reservoir offering boating, fishing, and swimming, and Causey Reservoir (4 miles east) providing excellent canoeing, fishing, and trail access. Highway 39 continues to Monte Cristo Summit with sweeping mountain views and abundant off-road vehicle and hiking trails. The campground operates with a 7-day stay limit and enforces quiet hours from 10pm to 6am, with gates locked at 10pm (tire-ripper exit available).

Directions

Located approximately 7.5 miles east of Huntsville, Utah, on Highway 39. From I-15, take the 12th Street exit and continue through Ogden Canyon. Continue on Highway 39 toward Monte Cristo. Turn left after entering the campground.
