Perception Park

Perception Park Family Campground sits on the banks of the South Fork Ogden River at 5,200 feet elevation, approximately 7.5 miles east of Huntsville, Utah. Built in the mid-1980s with accessibility as a primary design consideration, it qualifies as a higher-standard campground with paved parking spurs, concrete platforms with benches positioned along the river for wheelchair users, and fully accessible facilities. Though designed for visitors with physical challenges, camping is open to everyone. The scenic setting among shady cottonwoods and willows attracts moose and deer that occasionally wander through. The South Fork Ogden River running alongside the campground is popular for fishing, swimming, and tubing (life jackets are required for all tubers). A paved nature trail follows the river, and on-site amenities include a playground, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. Firewood is available for purchase from the campground host. Nearby attractions include Pineview Reservoir for boating and swimming, Causey Reservoir for canoeing and fishing, and Highway 39 continuing to Monte Cristo Summit with panoramic mountain views and abundant OHV trails.

Directions

From I-15, take the 12th Street exit in Ogden and continue through Ogden Canyon on Highway 39. Remain on Highway 39 toward Monte Cristo approximately 7.5 miles east of Huntsville. Turn left at the campground entrance.
