About

Upper Jones Valley Campground is a small, rustic camping facility located within the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area's Shasta Unit, approximately 9 miles east of Shasta Lake City. Operated on an as-needed basis by Shasta Recreation Company, the concessionaire to the Forest Service, this campground provides a quiet retreat with just 8 camping sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and an unpaved parking spur suitable for trailers up to 16 feet in length. The campground features vault toilets and while earlier sources mentioned drinking water availability, current Forest Service information indicates potable water is not available on-site. Campers should plan to bring their own water supply. The campground is accessed via Bear Mountain Road and Dry Creek Road, providing a secluded setting for those seeking to explore the surrounding national recreation area. The basic amenities and remote location make this campground ideal for self-sufficient campers looking for a quiet escape in the Shasta-Trinity region.
