About

Upper Jones Valley Campground is a small, secluded facility located on the upper Sacramento Arm of Shasta Lake within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. With only 8 camping sites, it offers an intimate experience for those seeking a quieter alternative to the more popular campgrounds around the lake. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and unpaved parking spur. The campground sits on a bluff above the lake, and while some sites are near the shoreline, direct water access is difficult from this location. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water available on site, so campers must bring their own supply. The facility has a 16-foot maximum trailer limit, making it unsuitable for larger RVs. Managed by Shasta Recreation Company as a concessionaire to the Forest Service, Upper Jones Valley operates on an as-needed basis rather than a fixed seasonal schedule. The campground is often closed, so campers should contact the Shasta Lake Ranger District to verify availability before making the trip.
