About

Arbuckle Flat is one of four boat-access only campgrounds on Shasta Lake within the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area. Located far up the Pit Arm of the lake, this remote facility attracts visitors who want to escape the crowds and experience primitive lakeside camping. The campground operates on a pack in, pack out basis, meaning campers must bring in all supplies and remove all trash. Accessibility to the campground varies significantly depending on current lake levels, which can fluctuate throughout the year. The nearest public boat ramp for access is Jones Valley. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, but no potable water is available on site. Water can be treated or filtered from the lake. Due to its remote location and boat-only access, this campground offers an excellent opportunity for solitude and peaceful lakeside camping. The facility is part of the Shasta Unit of the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area, which was established by Congress in 1965 for its unique recreation potential. Shasta Lake offers a variety of outdoor activities including boating, fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing.
