Arbuckle Flat Boat-in Campground
Open year-round, first-come first-served with no fees. No potable water available; campers must bring their own or filter from the lake. Pack out all trash. Access difficulty varies with Shasta Lake water levels.
About
Arbuckle Flat Boat-In Campground sits on the remote upper Pit Arm of Shasta Lake within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. As one of four boat-access-only campgrounds on the lake, it attracts visitors seeking to escape the more crowded developed campgrounds. The closest USFS boat ramp is at Jones Valley. This is a primitive, pack-it-in/pack-it-out facility with vault toilets and picnic tables. No potable water is available; campers must bring their own supply or filter/treat water from the lake. There are no fees to camp here, and no reservations are required. Boaters should be aware that access difficulty varies significantly depending on current lake levels. A California campfire permit is required for any campfires and can be obtained online at preventwildfireca.org.
Directions
Boat access only. Launch from Jones Valley boat ramp on Shasta Lake and travel up the Pit Arm to the campground location.
