About

Bailey Cove Campground is a small, 7-site campground nestled in a forested area on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake within the Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area. Its location just one mile off I-5 makes it highly accessible for travelers. The campground is particularly popular with boaters due to the adjacent public boat ramp, which sees heavy use when lake levels are high. Each campsite includes a tent pad, picnic table, raised fire ring, bear box, and paved parking spur with brick pavers providing added accessibility. The campground offers access to the 3-mile Bailey Cove Trail, which hugs the shoreline and is open to both hikers and mountain bikers. Anglers are drawn to Lake Shasta for its wide variety of fish species, and boat rentals are available nearby. The surrounding Shasta-Trinity National Forest encompasses diverse landscapes with hundreds of mountain lakes and thousands of miles of streams. Lake Shasta sits at 1,067 feet elevation with 365 miles of shoreline surrounded by steep mountains covered in manzanita and evergreens. Mount Shasta, the second-tallest peak in the Cascade Range, provides a dramatic backdrop. Wildlife is abundant, with osprey nests commonly seen around Bailey Cove. Nearby attractions include Lake Shasta Caverns and Hirz Mountain Lookout.
