About
Upper Deadman Campground is a primitive Forest Service campground located at 7,800 feet elevation in the Inyo National Forest, about two miles west of Highway 395 between Mammoth Lakes and June Lake. The campground features 20 sites tucked into a pine forest along Deadman Creek Road, offering a quiet and secluded camping experience. This is a basic, no-frills campground with vault toilets, picnic tables at each site, and a limited number of shared bear lockers. No drinking water is available, so campers must bring their own. The campground is not suitable for RV camping due to limited space and is intended for tent and car camping only. Sites are available first-come, first-served with self-registration at no charge. The area provides access to OHV and ATV trails, fishing opportunities in Deadman Creek, and serves as a basecamp for exploring the eastern Sierra. The campground enforces quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and has a 14-day stay limit. Dogs must be leashed in the campground.
