About
Big Springs Campground is a 26-site first-come, first-served facility situated at 7,300 feet elevation in pine forest between Mammoth Lakes and June Lake, near the Crestview area. This peaceful campground serves as an excellent basecamp for anglers targeting Deadman Creek, OHV enthusiasts exploring trails in the Lookout Mountain area, and adventurers visiting nearby Obsidian Dome. The campground operates on a self-registration system with no advance reservations. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire pit, and bear-proof locker. All food and scented items must be stored in the provided bear lockers, as this is active bear country. Vault toilets are available, but campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. Sites can accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet. Access is via Owens River Road east of US 395, north of Mammoth Lake. The campground operates approximately from May through October, depending on snow conditions. Free camping with a 14-day stay limit. Maximum 6 people and 2 vehicles per site. Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Dogs must be leashed in the campground.
