About

Located in Inyo National Forest near Mammoth Lakes, Deadman Campground consists of Upper and Lower sections with a combined total of 20 campsites separated by Deadman Creek. At an elevation of 7,800 feet, the campground sits in a high-desert forest environment accessed via Deadman Creek Road off US 395. The campground is designed for tent and car camping only and cannot accommodate RVs due to site configuration and road conditions. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables at each site, and a limited number of shared bear-proof storage lockers. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. Currently, no fees are charged for camping at this site, making it a popular option for budget-conscious campers. The area operates under a 14-day stay limit and quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The campground's location provides access to the scenic Eastern Sierra region, with proximity to the Ansel Adams Wilderness and various recreational opportunities. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed at all times in the developed recreation area. The campground is subject to seasonal closures during winter months due to snow and may occasionally close due to flooding from Deadman Creek or fire restrictions.
