About
Upper Buck Creek Campground is a quiet, primitive forest camp located 30 minutes southwest of Silver Lake, Oregon in the Fremont-Winema National Forest. At approximately 5,000 feet elevation, the campground features five sites nestled among ponderosa pines, lodgepole pines, aspens, and willows, with open meadows and marshland nearby. This is a free, first-come first-served campground with minimal amenities suited for those seeking solitude. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. A vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water and no trash service, so campers must bring their own water and pack out all garbage. Vehicles must remain at least 200 feet from the creek's edge. Recreational opportunities include fishing in Buck Creek, wildlife viewing, and plant observation. The campground operates from mid-May through mid-October, with reduced services during the extended season.
Directions
From Silver Lake, take Highway 31 north for about 1 mile, then turn left on County Road 4-10 (Bear Flat Road). Continue for 11.5 miles. Turn left on Forest Road 2804 and travel 3.4 miles. The campground will be on your left down an unnamed spur and is visible from FR 2804.
