About
Jackson Creek Campground offers a quiet, secluded camping experience in the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Its 12 campsites sit beneath a canopy of old-growth ponderosa and Jeffrey pines, with aspen trees and wild roses adding seasonal color. Willow-lined Jackson Creek riffles through the south side of the campground, providing habitat for small brook trout and attracting wildlife including deer and badgers. A meadow across the creek blooms with wildflowers throughout summer. The campground is primitive but well-equipped with basic amenities: each site has a picnic table and fire ring, and three vault toilets serve the area. There is no potable water, so visitors must bring an adequate supply. A rustic cabin near the entrance serves as a warming hut for snowmobilers and winter recreation enthusiasts during the colder months. Jackson Creek is free to use and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The primary season runs from mid-May through mid-October, with reduced services available during the off-season. A 14-day stay limit applies throughout the Fremont-Winema National Forest.
