About
Jackson Creek is a tranquil and secluded campground with 12 campsites scattered under a canopy of old-growth ponderosa and Jeffrey pines. Aspen trees and wild roses add seasonal color. Lined with willows, Jackson Creek riffles through the south side of the campground, offering fishing for small brook trout. Wildlife including deer and badgers frequent the area, and wildflowers bloom in the adjacent meadow throughout summer. The campground features a rustic cabin just past the entrance that serves as a warming hut for snowmobilers and winter recreation enthusiasts. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Three vault toilets and an information board are available. No potable water is provided, so visitors must bring an adequate supply of drinking water. Located one hour 40 minutes southeast of Chemult in a light-use area, Jackson Creek offers a peaceful forest camping experience. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no fees required. Access is via Forest Service Roads 49 and 4900740.
Directions
