About

Lower Buck Creek Campground is a small, secluded campground located approximately 30 minutes southwest of Silver Lake, Oregon, in the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Situated in a small valley at 5,000 feet elevation, this rustic campground is nestled next to Buck Creek and surrounded by pastoral meadows and mixed conifer forest. The campground offers true backcountry solitude with just five camping sites. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring, with one vault toilet serving the campground. A small gate next to the vault toilet provides access to the creek and adjacent riparian meadow. The campground is particularly popular with hunter groups and small family reunions seeking a primitive forest camping experience. Vehicles must be parked at least 200 feet from the creek's edge to protect the riparian area. Lower Buck Creek provides excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, especially deer and elk, as well as photography and relaxation in a peaceful natural setting. Anglers can fish for brook trout in the creek, and visitors can enjoy strolling along the perennial stream that flows from Yamsay Mountain. The campground has no potable water, so visitors must pack in sufficient water supplies and pack out all refuse.
