About

Lower Buck Creek Campground delivers genuine backcountry solitude in Fremont-Winema National Forest. Located in a small valley adjacent to Buck Creek and nestled beside a riparian meadow, this remote five-site campground sits at approximately 5,000 feet elevation. The perennial stream flowing from Yamsay Mountain provides a scenic backdrop and brook trout fishing opportunities. This primitive campground includes picnic tables and fire rings at the sites, with one vault toilet serving the area. There is no potable water, and visitors must pack in all supplies and pack out all refuse. A small gate near the vault toilet provides access to the meadow and creek. Vehicles must park at least 200 feet from the creek's edge. The area excels for wildlife viewing, with deer and elk frequently spotted. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the pastoral meadows and mixed conifer forest setting. The campground is reached via Forest Road 2804 and Forest Road 2804-013, approximately 30 minutes southwest of Silver Lake.
